Since 1996, The Serenity Club has offered hope and healing to alcoholics seeking recovery. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the AA community in Collier County. Located at 12435 Collier Boulevard, we host over 30 meetings each week, providing a critical service to those in need of help with a drinking problem. The geographic location of the club allows us to bring AA to Eastern Collier County. Transportation is limited in Collier County, and many of our attendees walk or ride a bike. Without the Serenity Club, many suffering alcoholics would not have the means to get to meetings in urban Naples where most other AA meetings are held.
Serenity Club members are very active in the larger AA community and are always on the lookout for ways to be of service. Club members routinely support treatment and corrections commitments, other district committees, and serve in a variety of service positions. Our Board meets the third Wednesday of each month at 8:15 p.m., and all members are encouraged to attend and participate.
Our members have worked very hard over the years to keep the doors open for the local recovery community. Last year, upon renewal of our lease, we faced a substantial rental increase. This forced us to consider other options. Our due diligence and search for an alternate location was an eye-opening experience. We learned that affordable space in a suitable location, with adequate parking, is difficult to come by; it caused us to reevaluate our current space and instilled a new appreciation and gratitude for how it has served us through the years. We are excited to share that we have recently taken steps to purchase our meeting space, offering us some long term security in the space we consider home. We’ve initiated some interior improvements and invite you to visit us and see the transformation for yourself.
Basket contributions have never covered the club’s expenses, and, to fund the difference, we hold many wonderful events throughout the year, providing opportunities for fellowship and service. These events raise critical funds to keep the Club operational. In addition to these efforts, membership support is essential to our survival. We know that AA changes people’s lives, and we are so grateful to our members who shine the light of recovery where it is needed most. This year’s annual Membership Drive kicks off June 9, 2014. If you are already a member, we thank you for your past support and hope you will continue with your important contribution this year. If not, please join us and become a part of something wonderful. With your help, the Serenity Club will continue to be a safe and welcoming space where AA groups carry the message to the alcoholic who still suffers.
